Emma McDonald
Summer 2024 InternRecent interns
Emma McDonald spent the Summer of 2024 immersing herself in all aspects of office and field Project Engineering duties. Emma’s internship, ahead of her junior year in UVM’s Civil Engineering program, earned her valuable experience, while making significant contributions to the NCC teams she supported. While in the office, Emma assisted the Enfield Public Safety project team with submittal reviews, RFI tracking, material ordering, and site mobilization preparations. Her time in the field ranged from labor assistance on the Hardwick Wastewater Treatment Plant project, to site and foundation layout on the Fox Run Apartments project.
Intern Jenna Symon, like many others on the NCC team, comes from a family of builders, and knows how to take on tasks with a creative and determined approach. Jenna has previously worked as a laborer for NCC and chose the Summer of 2024 to bring her UVM Business degree into focus. Jenna divided her time between providing project administrator assistance on the Fox Run Apartments project as well as office administrative assistance to Office Management, Human Resources and Accounting teams. Jenna’s internship transitioned to a part time position for the 2024-2025 school year as she continues her Business School pursuits and contributes to the successful operations of the NCC Team.
Nick Ward, UVM Engineering Management, Class of 2025, was looking for a hands-on Construction Management experience during his Summer 2024 internship placement. To compliment his time spent in the office supporting the Project Management team on the Central & Main Apartments Project, Nick also provided labor support to the Hardwick Wastewater Treatment Plant team. Additionally, Nick provided equipment layout assistance to the Vermont Livestock project team, as their project closed in on its third and final phase of facility upgrades.
Intern Hussein Sadik, Vermont Technical College (VTC) Class of 2025, spent the first half of his 2023 Summer internship on our busy Global Foundries Project site: Neagley & Chase Construction: New Project Award – Global Foundries Employee Experience Project (neagleychase.com). Hussein was instrumental in completing daily safety inspections, material handling, laboring, and overall support of our Project Superintendent. The second half of Hussein’s internship placed him in the Project Engineer bull pen at our South Burlington office – assisting with production of O&M manuals, takeoffs, procurement, and the opportunity to begin to develop an understanding of a Project Engineer’s role in supporting Project Managers in the Office.
Intern Aaron Szabo, Vermont Technical College (VTC) Class of 2023, spent the late Spring and Summer of 2022 embedded on the construction site for the US Forest Service Headquarters project, directly supporting Project Superintendent Scott Robertson and Project Manager Andrew Chrusciel. Aaron’s internship role provided him with hands-on experience in jobsite and project management, gaining knowledge and experience in safety, scheduling, procurement, material handling, documentation, coordination and communication.
Dylan Magoon, Project Manager, started his professional career path with NCC as an Intern while finishing his civil engineering degree (concentration in construction management) at Clarkson University. Dylan’s successful internship led to an offer to continue on with the NCC Team post-graduation as a Project Engineer and to also enroll in the Project Engineer Development Program. In Dylan’s most recent promotion to Project Manager, Dylan leverages many of the skills he began to learn as an Intern – Communication, coordination, and project organization.
