Wishing our incredible cohort of Summer Interns the very best in their next year of learning at UVM!
Wow, to anyone who has a less than optimistic view of the next generation, just spend some time with these three talented and hardworking individuals!
A few ‘What I did this Summer Highlights’ from this fantastic group:
One of Intern Emma McDonald’s favorite assignments over the summer were the long hard days spent prepping for, and then later installing, the lagoon cover at the Hardwick Wastewater Treatment Plant. And when she wasn’t lugging thousands of pounds of material on a jobsite, grinding concrete, or processing submittals, she was on site surveying to confirm dimensions and elevations for foundations and driveways at our Fox Run Apartments project.
Meanwhile, Intern Jenna Symon took on the herculean task of completing a targeted audit of hundreds of subcontractors, trade, and vendor insurance and bond data. Communicating, troubleshooting, and maintaining records with meticulous focus and professionalism. A seasoned jobsite laborer, Jenna also hopped back into the field on our Porter Medical Center jobsite, as she is always looking for ways to contribute to the entire NCC Team.
And finally, Intern Nick Ward jumped feet first into grinding and packaging equipment layout on our VT Livestock Processing Project, outlining multiple coolers, freezers, and equipment locations. He identified drops for power, water and air, and poured his energy and enthusiasm into gaining as much hands-on experience as he could over the Summer. His biggest personal takeaway: “Communication is everything”. How’s that for insight and awareness?
