St. Johnsbury, VT
Housing
Project Overview:
The Packard Court Housing project will breathe new life into a vacant lot in downtown St. Johnsbury.
Once completed, this 25,000 sf, 4-story building, will bring 26 new units of affordable senior housing to the Northeast Kingdom. Located on an infill lot where a building was lost years ago to a fire, site remediation and significant underground utility work make for a complex site. Existing adjacent buildings and infrastructure add to this complexity.
A wood-framed over pedestal construction project, Packard Court Housing will include a high-performance building envelope clad in brick, cedar and fiber cement siding. The energy efficient building will bring a complimentary 21st century solution to the historic St. Johnsbury downtown, while providing a fossil fuel free approach to heating, cooling and ventilating. High efficiency electric heat pumps and heat recovery ventilation will ensure occupant comfort and low operating costs.
A collaboration between Evernorth and RuralEdge, this project fuels St. Johnsbury’s investment in a vibrant downtown while bringing more critically needed housing units to the region.
