Renovation and Addition / PEMB
Project Overview:
Completed renovations and additions to an existing 80,000 SF foundry and manufacturing facility that operates around the clock, seven days a week
The primary focus of this project for Vermont Castings was to provide significant improvements to safety and productivity without impacting the ongoing manufacturing activity within the facility. Close coordination and detailed day to day planning was paramount to maintain uninterrupted operations while completing these improvements.
Priorities for immediate improvements to systems such as interior production area lighting, fire alarms, life safety systems, and exterior lighting were established early on in the project. Improved employee amenities were constructed; including a new office addition, locker rooms, bathrooms, and an employee break area.
Energy efficiency and improved production workflow were critical components of this project. Thermal efficiency was enhanced with new membrane roofing and replacement of the existing building skin with new insulated panels. The added benefit of providing a clean reflective interior that, combined with new energy efficient lighting, improved light levels and general appearance in the production and assembly areas. To improve product flow efficiency, a new shipping and receiving dock facility was added in close coordination with plant operations. Electrical service upgrades in preparation for a future enameling line were also included.
