Neagley & Chase Construction is delighted to have been recently chosen to act as CM on an exciting historic renovation project for the historic ‘Meyer Block’ Building in downtown Lake Placid, NY.
Formerly known as the ‘Madden Block’, the neoclassical building was originally built in 1917 as home for the Lake Placid Pharmacy. It has since hosted the Mountain Home Telephone Company, the Lake Placid Christmas Company, the F.S. Leonard & Co. department store, the Meyer’s drug store, and a variety of other retail establishments since. This eclectic four story façade appears in many wonderful historic Lake Placid Main Street photographs.
The building was badly damaged by fire in July of 2015, the steel and masonry building’s roof and structure were stabilized, and the building has remained unoccupied since as the building’s Owner has completed restoration and renovation planning. The result of this planning effort is a truly new life for this building, with efforts to reestablish the Main Street storefront to its original design, the creation of three new apartments, and facelift for the building façade that fronts Mirror Lake to the North of the building.
NCC is currently assisting with pre-construction estimating, logistic and safety planning services for the tight downtown site, and looks forward to beginning construction later this Winter on this challenging project in the North Country.
